Reblogged from Animal Connection:
California's Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) is seeking to allow, and in some cases increase, the number of wild birds — including hawks, falcons and owls — who can be taken from the wild and used for the "sport" of falconry.
Please speak out today against this unwise and inhumane proposal.
Wild birds of prey fly for miles a day with no boundaries, experiencing a level of freedom that is unparalleled by many animals.
Oh, come on California. You take the lead to get rid of hounding and allow this garbage? I am sure this will be the next big thing in Wisconsin too.

You have to be from California to make a comment,. Any how falconry belongs to the Middle Ages.

I agree falconry belongs in the middle ages, but unfortunately living in rural, redneck WI I do know a female falconer who just doesn’t get it! She feels she is doing the hawks she captures a favor by trapping them using live bait. She feels the pigeons she uses as training bait as incidental even though I informed her pigeons mate for life. She loves to watch how the squirrels are driven to the tree tops to their death by the falcon/ hawks. She also video tapes bow & arrow hunts of wildlife. This female redneck works in healthcare. I personally have rejected any healthcare provider who hunts as I feel if they lack compassion regarding animals; they also are uncaring, cold people who probably are also not capable of truly caring about human suffering. There is no end to the ways people in WI find to torture animals in the name of their sick entertainment
