Hello Patricia. I have tried very hard to recruit a delegate candidate or two from the UW-Oshkosh faculty in the Dept. of Environmental Studies and have had no success. The reasons include things like ‘I am new here and do not want to rock the boat’, ‘I am too involved in other things right now’, ‘I am retiring next year and may consider something like that then’, ‘Thank you for your hard work but I do not reside in the area’, to flat out no response. Consequently, if no one else has stepped forward from Winnebago County with a humane to wildlife and environmental issues platform, I will then run. Though I may not be able to complete a term (keep that one between us) I will seek the 2 year term occupied by a guy I believe serves on the bear committee. Knowing that it may come to this, I have given a great deal of effort to this cause, despite spending a lot of time assisting my sister who will be undergoing breast cancer surgery this Tuesday am as well as moving her back to Seattle, WA. I am not making excuses if I lose. I am not afraid to lose or win. But I am happy to stand up there for three minutes and tell those in attendance why I am a better delegate option.

    Best Regards, Randy O’Connell
