Continued War on Wolves and “Republican-Lites”

18 May

Below is an excellent article that points out that we will probably never again see the number of wolves in the United States that we have now. President Obama and his rancher Interior Secretary, “Cowboy” Ken Salazar, should be ashamed of themselves for what they have allowed to happen to the wolf. Montana and Idaho have killed almost 550 wolves just since August of last year. Wyoming, Wisconsin, and Minnesota have also given in to the anti-wolf hysteria and have passed legislation that will lead to another mass slaughter of wolves in these states. Not content killing over 500 wolves Idaho and Montana now will allow even more and longer killing seasons again with no quotas.

Wolf High: Is It Now All Downhill For Wolf Numbers In The American West?

This is shameful and appalling considering that this has happened under the nose of a supposedly “liberal” president. It seems that Democrats are now nothing more than the “Republican-lite” party. As the Wisconsin and Minnesota wolf kill bills show, Democrats are just as good at pandering to hunter, trapper, and ranching groups as Republicans are. Someone needs to remind the Democrats that they are supposed to be “the party of the environment” and not lightweight shills for those who wish to destroy and exploit our wildlife and environment. A perfect example of this pandering came from Wisconsin Democratic Senator Herb Kohl’s office:

“Thank you for your views.  As you know, H.R. 4089 is a package of a number of public lands bills covering issues including hunting and fishing, motor vehicle recreation, mineral resource extraction, and executive authority to designate national monuments.  Sen. Kohl believes it’s possible to reach a reasonable agreement that balances the concerns of wildlife protection advocates and hunters and anglers.  Should this legislation come before the Senate for debate, he will keep your views in mind as he works toward that goal.”

In other words we must continue to pander to those who wish to decimate our wildlife and may consider what wildlife advocates have to say. What the hell is wrong with this society? Why should we hold those who wish to torment and kill our wildlife for “recreation” in such high regard? When will our society realize that it is abnormal to get pleasure out of killing something? Am I in the Twilight Zone? A person who tortures cats, dogs, or other domestic animals are considered a psychopath in our society, while someone who does the exact same thing to wildlife in the form of trapping and hounding are considered “conservationists” or “sportsmen?” Am I getting this right?

It is getting worse, and we are allowing it to happen. Remember WE are the majority. Why do we let the bloodlust of a small minority of citizens in our country dictate what happens to our wildlife? Please speak up and remind these people that our views are just as important as those who kill and exploit our wildlife. Also remind them that WE are the majority.

The denial of all the scientific, and informative information regarding our wildlife is almost incomprehensible to me and my family! I must say we are heart sick and embarrased at such decission making with our govenment, in this once great United States. Yes, a country can be judged by the way it treats its animals!

ALL PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE THAT IF THE SENSELESS SLAUGHTER OF ONE OF GOD’S PRECIOUS ANIMALS IS NOT STOPPED THAT WE WILL CONDEMN OURSELVES TO EXTINCTION. WE NEED WOLVES TO HELP OUT WITH CONSERVATION AND WITHOUT THEM WE WILL BE OVER-RUN WITH OTHER ANIMALS THAT WE BE DETRIMENTAL TO OUR SURVIVAL. ASK GOD FOR THE WISDOM THAT IS NEEDED TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

Franz Camenzind is from Monroe Wi. I knew him as a kid. His parents were Swiss farmers and their farm is gone. The last I knew he was with National Geo. I’m glad he resurfaced and we can read intelligent insights from such a distinguished person. I hope he writes and publishes more in the public media. He’s angry and so am I. When writing to Senator Johnson, be blunt and direct. He will not respect any facts but his own. Don’t thank him for a thing. I just wrote a message in a petition letter saying the legislature and it’s rich cronies, such as the NRA ,are destroying this country.

Johnson makes me absolutely sick. He is nothing more than a right wing hack. This guy came out before he was elected against a bill that would extended the statute of limitations for victims of child sexual assault. He still got elected and there he was defending pedophiles. This guy does whatever his big money Tea Party puppet masters tell him to do. Honestly Kohl doesn’t seem much better as he is a Republican-lite. Screw the NRA and their ilk. That group has the same standing as Al Qaeda does in my eyes. I have nothing against legal gun ownership with reasonable restrictions, but the NRA will not be satisfied until we have old-west style shootouts in the street.
