When this website was started in early March we put rules in place for those who comment to this site. Those rules are as follows:
For those that comment on this site:
This is not a place for hunters and trappers to try to justify their behavior. There are plenty of pro-hunting and pro-trapping websites available to visit if that is your intention. WE VOW is a refuge for people who view wildlife as something other than being “recruited” or “harvested” for recreational purposes. Hunters and trappers already have their voice heard all over the internet, in newspaper outdoor pages, and in all levels of our government. WE VOW is a place for the rest of us to have a voice, the silent majority.
As the viewership of this site has increased so have the number of comments from those threatening violence toward the hunter/trapper crowd and inane propaganda justifying their bloodsport from the other side.
For those wildlife advocates who post threats of violence, please stop. While the hunters and tappers deal in brutality and death, we deal in life. We have to be better than them and refuse to stoop to their level.
Then we have the hunter/trapper trolls who come to this site to spread their pro-killing propaganda that tries to equate killing with “conservation.” It is not. Here is an example of one of those comments from a person who identifies themselves as “Ben:”
“Without hunters you would not have wildlife. Our tax dollars and license dollars go to support habitat and land. Hunters give wildlife a voice everyday and we make it a priority to repect and use the resource accordingly. Your miguided information is funny to read, please keep it up so we have some good laughs in the future.”
It’s funny how every time someone doesn’t buy into their “killing is conservation” propaganda we are “misguided.” Who is doing the guiding? The Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association? The NRA? The Wisconsin “Wildlife” Federation? SCI?
Without hunters we wouldn’t have wildlife? Really? Who was it that killed off the wolves the first time? It wasn’t tree huggers. Who was it who killed of millions of bison? Again, it wasn’t tree huggers. Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe it was hunters that did these acts. If your money does so much then why is the DNR begging for money from non-hunters?
Dwindling resources, but you can sure keep giving money to bear hounders whose dogs are allegedly killed by wolves. And we are misguided?
Hunters give wildlife a voice everyday? Really? Do the thousands of bears that are relentlessly hounded several months of the year and then slaughtered in the fall have a voice? Did the 800 wolves that are now targeted for slaughter for four and a half months, 24 hours a day, with packs of dogs have a voice?
Notice that wildlife are not animals or living beings with people like this. They are “resources.” Respect? You mean “sportsmen” respecting wildlife like this:
How about this:
There are thousands more like these examples. Respect? Yes, keep laughing.
