Wisconsin DNR: Hounders Will Be Allowed To Run Packs of Dogs on Wolves For 12 Months Under Guise of “Training”

23 Jul

Hounders will be able to runs packs of dogs on wolves for 12 months on private land and shoot any wolf “attacking” their dogs.

**Update** It was requested that the emails from the DNR staff be temporarily removed. In their place is an article about hounders being allowed to go after wolves with no license.

I was just forwarded some emails that were sent by Adrian Wydeven and Thomas Van Haren from the Wisconsin DNR. If you thought the idea of hounding wolves during the wolf killing season was bad, check out what they will allow during the hound “training” seasons. (**Emails removed temporarily 7-26-2012**)

From the above article:

“It’s allowed under the state’s dog training laws in much the same way hound owners are allowed to train their dogs to trail coyotes or bears. The one difference from bear training would be that no license is required to train dogs on wolves – bear hunters must have a bear “B license” to run bears. Hunters may train hounds on wolves all year and there is no six-dog pack limit, like there would be during the actual wolf season.”

You read that right. Hounders will be able to run their packs of vicious dogs on wolves for 12 Months in many areas of the state under the guise of “training.” The will also be able to run their dogs on wolves during the killing season again under the guise of “training.”

So basically what is going to happen is that hounders, under the guise of “training,” can pit their packs of dogs against wolves for the majority of the year on DNR land and for ALL of the year on private land. So again under the guise of “training” the hounders can goad their dogs to fight wolves and then shoot the wolves for “attacking” their dogs. And of course they will not only get to kill wolves for free, they will get a nice fat $2500 check from the DNR for any of their “precious” dogs that the wolves kill. And they don’t even need any sort of license to participate in this. WTF???????? If you need anymore evidence about how brutal and corrupt the “management” of wildlife is in Wisconsin there it is.

So this is how the hounders plan to get around the “quota” that the DNR put into place. All that they need to say is that wolves “attacked” their “innocent” dogs that they just happened to be “training” in wolf habitat and they can shoot as many as they want with no repercussions. Any bets that Rep. Scott Suder (ALEC, WBHA) and his anti-wildlife allies in the Legislature knew this before they rammed their bill through? Does anyone still doubt that Wisconsin intends to eradicate the wolf from our state?

The time to speak up is NOW. The time for a lawsuit is NOW. This state is out of control and our wildlife is now at the “mercy” of people like Scott Suder and George Meyer. Who in their right mind thinks that it is perfectly acceptable to run packs of dogs on their canine brethren? How can this end in any manner other than wolves and dogs dying in the most brutal of ways?

This is no state to be in if you are a wolf, bear or humane person who wants this killing stopped. What a disgrace, outrage does not adequately cover the sentiments. Where are the lawyers? This needs to be stopped before its started, what a hellish fall WI has planned for its beautiful wolves.

The Humane Society must step in soon. Every time I turn on the computer things just get worse. A Progressive state? Ha- not for me. I would guess that Adrien Wydeven is horribly upset.

No, you need to step in! Stop whining about someone else doing something, get up from your computer, and do it yourselves! Otherwise it won’t be stopped. I’m out in the field every damn day, lugging around $4000.00 worth of dslr, which BTW, this web site should set up an immediate system in which I can upload, or email them my imaging…I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed…

If this site would do that, I will provide you all with digital images of the vermin, their vehicles, and their dogs, then other self-sifficient types can use the license plates or other such info to gather their personal data, such as name, address, ect…and release them to the public! Thats how you interdict a coward and his game!

That’s right Chris. My friends at has been filming the SLOB pigeon shooters in Pa and it is working. The only reason these SLOB hounders will take there hounds into the woods is because they now have the legislature behind them with a bogus law. This is an opportunity to expose (Bear Hunters Bitch)Suder and the rest of the leg cowards. People need to be putting trail cams in the woods……some video of these idiots in action will go along way

You, dear hunters, are the ones who should be hunted. What is the matter with you all???? I hope that one day soon, our Creator will step in and show you that this was not the way he wanted humans to live!!!! The time cannot come soon enough for me!

I truly believe hunters/hounders/DNR passed this law allowing wolves to be hunted @ night & now training hounds 12 months out of the year is intended to provide hunters access to private land currently closed to hunting. Yet another way to completely wipe out wolves! I can picture marauding hunters with their hounds roaming the woods terrorizing & torturing wildlife as unknowing landowners sleep. Not only will there be gory stand-offs between dogs & wolves; the stage is being set for dangerous stand-offs between landowners & trespassers. What is the DNR & legislators thinking? Is law enforcement prepared for the consequences of this unconscionable & carelessly enacted piece of legislation?

I propose we hunt the hunters. The cowards that they are

Diane, I have a farm and it’s posted. According to law if hunters have no permission from the landowner, even if the land is not posted, they are trespassing. If I catch anyone hounding in my woods, I will sue and make them very poor. You are right . This will be very messy esp. up North.

This whole idea is a recipe for disaster. Not only will you have massive trespassing issues, but there will be hounders getting their dogs caught in traps that other killers set for wolves. Then you will have deer hunters getting pissed because the hounders will be “training” their dogs non stop and scaring the deer. Then you will have the bird hunters whose dogs will get caught in traps or the hounder dogs will scare off the birds that they are trying to kill. That doesn’t even take into consideration the ver likely scenario of hounder dogs being goaded into fighting wolves. Just wait, there will be many wolves killed by hounders who are “training” and they will get away with it because the wolves “attacked” their dogs. This whole thin is not only pissing off us living wildlife advocates, it is pitting hunter and trappers against each other. These people need to tell the likes of Scott Suder and George Meyer to piss off. Suder and Meyer have hijacked the entire hunting “community” and pushed to implement the most extreme killing agenda possible.

They asked for it. And the wolves are caught in the crosshairs. Wait till a hunter steps into a trap. War beween landowners, trappers and hunters. Yep- a recipe for disaster if I ever saw one.

Men with unlimited packs of dogs, no licenses to know what the hell is going on – no backtags to identify anything – but now this unlimited dogs all over the place with unlimited men will terrorize and destroy all wildlife. When you add in trapping on all public lands – stewardship lands – our $1.67 billion dollar investment – the public should be standing in the capital just to protect their own lands and any peace of mind they ever hoped for. Trapping in all public lands in winter will destroy all wildlife from miles around across the entire state. Beavers have been nuked out and it is a major cause of drought – so the farmers who want all wildlife killed to kill all farm animals – now have their result – dead crops. Farm animals being pushed to slaughter enmasse because there is no feed or water. People have got to make the connection between eating meat and the farmers and hunters destroying all wildlife because wolves and natural predators predate. This is a disaster. If people do not wake up, the hunters will start a season on “antis” that they are always talking about – and that will pass the legislature too. Antis are anybody that is not so psychopathic to want to torture and kill all life.

And the Humane Societies want us to help them help dogs and cats. How about the rest of the world’s wildlife.

It is NO WONDER why Adrian Wydeven requested to be moved out of the head wolf biologist position..what self respecting biologist would want to be connected to such ruthless and repugnant ways? We will fight this and we WILL WIN…they are barbaric and this is all going viral now…once you wake people up..they do not go back to sleep. a small minority of mentally ill people are writing and implementing these laws….we will expose them and change this. animal abuse is very offensive to the majority of the human race..all over the world..and even in Wi with these morons.
