Following the lawsuit filed against the proposed Wisconsin wolf slaughter last week representatives of the Chippewa tribes in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan have also asked the Wisconsin Department of Natural resources to halt their plans for a wolf hunt this fall.
We have stood with the tribes since the beginning of this fiasco. Rep. Scott Suder (R-ALEC, WBHA) and his anti-wolf allies ignored the concerns of the tribes and completely shut them out of any discussion about their wolf kill bill that they rammed through the legislature. This was just another example of the disrespect that has been directed toward our native brothers and sisters in this state by the Walker Administration and their allies like Suder. I have personally been a longtime supporter of native rights and I stand with them in their fight to protect their brother, the wolf.
Also this week a couple of outstanding letters to the editor written by Shirley Clements of Fon du Lac speaking out against George Meyer’s deceptively named hunting group the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, and the insanity surrounding the impending wolf slaughter.
Thank you Shirley for calling these people out for who they really are. Here is a sample:
“WWF is not protection for our wolves. Its focus is protection for hunting activities and is truly “dedicated to the future of hunting, fishing, trapping and the shooting sports.”
Therefore WWF supports political, unscientific, and unprofessional policies based not on fact but amateur science, misperception and exaggerations. WWF, name yourself Wisconsin Hunters Federation and rewrite your mission.”
Please send your own letters to the editor of your local newspapers. People are slowly becoming more and more aware of what this state wants to allow to happen to our wolves. We must keep out the pressure.
