If you are running for the Conservation Congress or even just attending it, remember that people (newbies) do not know that it is an election – are often there because of an issue. We had enough people attending on our side in Dane and Milwaukee counties last year to elect our candidates – but they stayed out in the hallway, filling out the questionnaire instead of going into the room to elect delegates IMMEDIATELY – first order of business. So our candidates lost.
So we are going to have to have people stationed at the door to talk to people or even hand them a flyer ( so we do not miss some) that says GO IMMEDIATELY INTO THE ROOM TO VOTE FOR OUR TWO CANDIDATES – and YOU HAVE ALL NIGHT TO FILL OUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE. We can print of 20 of those per page – so not a big deal. Then we need a few people to go around and round up people filling out questionnaires in the foyer.
Then your job, should you choose to help, is to go up to the microphone as soon as they open it and announce to the public that this ELECTION has been around for 80 years and the public has been denied it deliberately. That all of the power over governing our state parks, county parks, Ice Age trails, and 7 and a half million acres of publicly purchased lands is determined by them attending EVERY YEAR to run candidates and elect delegates that protect that trust – including our biological treasure – our wildlife. Tell them this is the most important election in the state and attending every year can protect their interests.
Tell them the reason our state agency is promoting running dogs against wolves and coyotes, bobcats and all wildlife – killing our endangered species and putting trapping and hunting into our state parks and ALL 7 and a half million acres of our land – is that people have not known about and regularly attended this election to be represented in the SOLE advisory on nature to our legislature, DNR and Natural ( UN) Resources Board.
Can you orchestrate that effort in your counties on April 8?
