NRB Rubber Stamps Fall Wolf Slaughter because “God created homo sapiens to manage wolves.”

According to William Bruins of the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board "God created homo sapiens to manage wolves."

According to William Bruins of the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board “God created homo sapiens to manage wolves.”

**UPDATE** This is the full quote from NRB board member William Bruins:

“God created homo-sapiens to be in charge of controlling livestock (misspeaks, corrects) wildlife populations. And if we were to allow the wolf to propagate and go about being the predators that they are, that is not managing the wolf population. So I therefore move to approve the 275 wolf harvest quota and the license issue at 10x the number.”

When it comes to wildlife issues in Wisconsin it is no longer a surprise to anyone that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Natural Resources Board are in the business of pandering to special interests hellbent on eradicating the gray wolf from out state. As expected today, the Natural Resources Board rubber stamped the sham “Wolf Advisory Committee’s” wolf kill quota of 275 despite massive public outrage in the form of letters and testimony before the board. It all was ignored and explained away in the form of propaganda and even religious justification by one of the board members.

First we will start with the propaganda filled press release from he Wisconsin DNR. This is what Dave MacFarland, DNR carnivore specialist, had to say in the release:

“Wolves and wolf hunting seasons evoke a spectrum of emotions and opinions from people. This quota was set with diverse input to try to balance many of the social interests in wolves with the need, and the department’s responsibility, to manage the state’s wolf population,” said Dave MacFarland, DNR carnivore specialist. “Goals established in our current management plan are lower than our current population. The quota approved today will put downward pressure on the number of wolves in the state in accordance with the approved plan.”

Now Mr. MacFarland from all accounts is a respectable man with vast knowledge about the science behind wolves and other carnivores but in this case he is shamelessly towing the DNR line. “Diverse input?” Where? The DNR’s sham “Wolf Advisory Committee” was stacked with SEVEN anti-wolf groups, ONE allegedly “pro-wolf” group, (Timberwolf Alliance), and a tribal representative from the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission. The rest of the group were employees of the DNR and anti-wolf government agencies like the USDA’s Wildlife Services. The Humane Society of the United States, Sierra Club, and the National Wolfwatcher Coalition were all refused seats on this committee. Of the involved groups and representatives the ONLY one to stand up for wolves and against this reckless quota was the tribal representative.

A reminder of who is on this “diverse” group:

Bill Vander Zouwen, DNR WM Chair
David MacFarland, DNR WM CO
Adrian Wydeven – DNR WM CO
Brad Koele – DNR WM CO
Steve Hoffman – DNR WM NOD
David Halfmann – DNR WM NED
Sara Kehrli – DNR WM SOD
Kris Johansen – DNR WM WCD
Dan Michels – DNR LE
Barry Gilcheck – DNR CSL
Jenny Pelej – DNR CE
Brian Dhuey – DNR SS
Lee Fahrney – Conservation Congress
Eric Koens – Wisconsin Cattlemans Association
Mike Gappa – Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association
Joe Koback – Safari Club International
Randy Jurewicz – Timber Wolf Alliance
Mike Brust – Wisconsin Bowhunters Association
Peter Fasbender – USFWS
Jake Walcisak – Wisconsin County Forest Association
Dan Eklund – USFS
Jason Suckow – USDA WS
Maynard Breunig – Wisconsin Trappers Association
Ralph Fritsch – Wisconsin Wildlife Federation
Peter David – GLIFWC

And don’t forget that one of the Natural Resources Board members, Greg Kazmierski, is the founding member of the “Hunters Rights Coalition,” a lobbying group that pays lobbyist Bob Welch to lobby for their causes. Welch is also the lobbyist for the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association which is just another arm of the Hunters Rights Coalition. The Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association and Welch WROTE the wolf kill bill and lobbied for elements of it before the very board that Kazmierski sits and votes on. See where I am going with this? The Natural Resources Board is a guaranteed rubber-stamp for any and all anti-wolf/wildlife proposals that come before them.

But enough about that. Back to the NRB meeting today. During the “public” testimony portion anti-wolf groups like the dubiously named hunting group, the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation whined that this years slaughter was not enough and that the quota should be even higher. From this article:

In verbal testimony Wednesday, Ralph Fritsch of the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation said he supported the agency’s efforts to lower wolf numbers in the state but thought the quota should be higher.

Look at the “Wolf Advisory Committee” list above. Anything seem familiar? Fritsch is not only a mouthpiece for this extremist hunting group, he is also a Conservation Congress Delegate, and a member of the ‘Wolf Advisory Committee.” See the pattern here? All of these anti-wolf/wildlife people and groups are interconnected thus they have absolute power. This is a microcosm of what is occurring all over the state. Special interests having their tentacles into law/rule making bodies, writing laws, and ramming them through the legislative process process. ALEC, the bear hounders, the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation; they are the same monsters just in different clothing. The voice of the citizen no longer matters, and half of us are too oblivious to see it in this state.

And speaking of oblivious this quote came from NRB board member William Bruins during today’s hearing. Now may be a good time to take a seat.

God created homo sapiens to manage wolves.”

Yup, he really said that during the hearing. This is what we are up against fellow living wildlife advocates. We are up against special interest groups that own the DNR, Legislature, Conservation Congress, and NRB. We are up against religious zealots that use their beliefs to justify the mass slaughter of wolves and other wildlife. And worst of all these are the people that are tasked with making the decisions that mean life or death for our cherished wildlife. Is this how your deity thinks wolves should be managed:

Does your deity find this acceptable?

Wisconsin Wildlife Ethic and other state living wildlife groups are working on developing plans of actions to combat these unethical and corrupt institutions, but we need your help. I anyone has suggestions about LEGAL ways to accomplish these goals we need to hear from you. You can use the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the page, or you can leave your comments here. It is obvious that the traditional methods for fighting this kind of corruption and abuse no longer work under the regime in charge of Wisconsin and nationwide under our supposedly “progressive” president. We need to think outside of the box as what we are currently doing is not successful. Please brainstorm and share any ideas that you can come up with. We look forward to reading them.

I guess we can only hope and pray that the weather will make this wolf hunt miserable for all involved. If our recent weather and climate change is any indication of what’s to come, the “hunters”, and I use this term loosely because what they really are, are sadistic killers, will be shot down by snow, blizzards and whatever else the good Lord can throw at them. We will keep on fighting for the wolves, but it seems that we are outnumbered by money and Walker’s friends.

You have hit the nail on the head. There has to be a creative way to approach this, along with every other messed up situation. We are all stuck and it’s obviously not working very well. I wish I had the answer. I could maybe come up with a billboard idea and design. ?

I suggest a class action law suit against all of these groups including the Federal government and State & & Local governments for the mental anguish they cause us for their offensive, cruel, torturous, heinous and reprehensible acts they perpetrate on these innocent animals. It causes me much, much pain and many sleepless nights knowing what is going on day in and day out not only to wolves but to every living creature on this planet. I call our beautiful blue marble in space ‘Blood Planet’ because that is what these sick-minded serial-killer losers have turned it into. Think of all the animals that are murdered everyday across the globe not only in the wild but in the oceans, in slaughter houses, rivers, lakes and laboratories. It is truly mindboggling the amount of murder and torture that is inflicted on those who cannot defend themselves. It is nearly beyond words to even contemplate. And those of us, with eyes wide open, are often left helpless to do anything aside from fight the laws and try to educate people. Maybe a class action lawsuit for mental anguish and pain would bring attention to the many of us who find these perverted practices wholly unacceptable in a so-called humane, civilized society. WE are the portion of that humane, civilized society, which needs to be heard and not the barbarians who are running it.

the Center for Biological Diversity has just won injunction to stop the killing of the wolves in Oregon . Maybe you should contact them they are very good at making things happen for the environment and wildlife they’re the ones I give money to they have a big team of scientist and lawyers.. ” Executive Director” Kieran Suckling

Center for Biological Diversity PO Box 710 Tucson Az. 85702-0710
    Tel(502)623-5252 Fax 623-9797

Show them the video above of those two idiots of what that poor wolf went through I could clearly see it was not dead it was only injure that should get their attention !
I also would think of all you as a group contacting a lawyer and suing the board for emotional distress from you can’t sleep can’t eat scared to let your children your pets and yourself to go into the woods because you’re afraid of what might happen stepping in a trap, getting shot, poisoned I would go after them with anything and everything I could. They are stepping on your civil rights. I would even contact a civil rights attorney hell lot of them would do it for free just for the challenge.
This is war and its time to bring out the big guns damn the torpedoes full speed ahead ! You have the names start kicking ass it’s now or never to the blow these assholes out of water! I wish you all the best my thoughts are with you and good luck . Sincerely, Nancy

I think a law suit against the State DNR and NRB is viable under the Public Trust Doctrine. This doctrine is recognized by Wis. Supreme Court and gives all citizens the right to enjoy the States wildlife. Also since the Federal Government has handed over “the management” to the State its the State of Wisconsin that is breaching its duty to preserve and protect the gray wolf for current citizens and future generations. I’m an attorney but I am also a solo practioner and have very limited resources to commence this suit. You can google The Public Trust Doctrine and see for yourself the obligation the State has under the law to protect and preserve the states wildlife. Which they obviously are not doing with unscientific and inhumane “management plan”.

The HSUS has the clout, the lobbyist’s and is able to garner media attention very effectively to draw attention to issues concerning animals.Just look @ what the HSUS accomplished in 2012 with the pork industry & inhumane farrowing crates. Chain restaurants including McDonalds etc vowed not to purchase pork from companies using farrowing crates impacting how Smithfield & Hormel raise their animals. HSUS shone the light on downer cows being sold for human consumption raising public awareness of the cruelty involving this along with the disregard the slaughter houses have for the public who may unwittingly consume animals who may have mad cow disease. True the main focus of the HSUS is with domestic animals but perhaps with both financial support & encouragement from a collaborative effort of the wolf/wildlife organizations the HSUS would help us to raise the awareness we need to open the apathetic general public eyes to the the fact there are no laws to protect wildlife as there are for domestic animals. Anything goes in the method, the type of weapon or the means used to kill wildlife. It is considered socially acceptable behavior to kill an animal merely because it lives and it would be fun to kill it-society must open its eyes to see what is happening in the name of sport. I believe nothing will change until the average American is made aware-I think the HSUS has the power to make this happen.

I also believe that nothing will change until every American is made aware of the plight of today’s wildlife. As a non-American I’m not sure if HSUS alone has the power to educate the whole population, but a collaboration and a joined work effort with fx Defenders of Wildlife and other organisations like them (there are so many, I can’t remember them all) to bring knowledge and awareness to all, may be the way forward. Let us hope that it won’t be too late, for the wolves.

This is cronyism at its ugliest…it’s been practiced in Illinois policitcs for years, and it’s what sunk Blaggo’s ship. Trying to get the national media on this like bulldogs would help our cause – drawing national attention to these political hacks who have “rigged” the system in their favor is the furthest thing from Democracy. Hunters have hijacked this state, and I for one am quite sick of this!

I thought wolves were being killed because ‘science’ supported that it was healthy for their population. (sarcasm because I don’t really believe this either). But now they are killing wolves because God said so. Which one is it, science or religion that is determining the fate of wolves? They shouldn’t be allowed to have a hunt unless it’s 100% science. They shouldn’t be allowed to bring their personal religious beliefs into this.

Christianity has a bloody history, and I guess some Christians need to keep their religion alive by shedding blood in the present. Someone stop this bloody crusading witch hunt where the Muslims, pagans, and witches have been replaced with wolves and other innocent wildlife. I guess some hunters think God will reward them in Heaven if they sacrifice the wolves in God’s name. It’s so twisted how people can use religion to justify horrible actions.

read the entire explanation on human religion here’s the website
Then print it out and send it to those morons and don’t forget to have a bunch of copies to hand out…
